Vocational Training
FGWP commits itself in supporting vocational training to the inmates to assist them lead a good and useful life on release and in doing so, enhance that offenders’ prospects and a reduction in his/her in re-offending.
The prisoners get training on Carpentry, Mechanics, Welding, Tailoring, Masonry, Knitting, Plumbing, Upholstery, embroidery, crocheting, beauty therapy, hair dressing and dressmaking. These training give the inmates job-related skills that are relevant to employment opportunities that exist in the community.
The Trust provide training materials and theory books to the prison stations for all vocational training courses as well as taking photographs for their enrolment for exams. Initially the Trust used to pay the testing fee for the inmates but the Government has since taken over that responsibility.
